Bachly Construction is currently working on a multi-million dollar renovation and addition that will add a total of 39 new store and restaurant locations to the Burlington Mall. In addition, they will also be renovating the entire concourse, transforming the design of the current mall.
Vice President of commercial construction at Bachly Construction, Ken Dale says, “The Burlington Mall project is progressing very well. There are a number of different facets tothis project which make it challenging, but very rewarding“.
With a massive Target re-demise, concourse overhaul, as well as an addition and further renovations, Bachly Construction’s Commercial division is diligently working on the upgrades in partnership with RioCan and Kingsett Capital.
Thru the joint venture of RioCan and Kingsett’s 60 million dollar investment into the redevelopment of the mall, Burlington will see immediate and significant changes within the community.
The Target re-demise will account for 11 of the new store and restaurant locations, while the mall renovation and addition will provide space for 28 new store fronts.
Large retailers such as Winners, Indigo and Denningers are a few of the vendors already confirmed.
General Manager of the Burlington Mall, Heidi McGaw says, “This investment will ultimately provide an improved shopping experience…and additional job opportunities in the community. Our redevelopment project will also tie in nicely with the City’s focus on enhancements to the Fairview Street corridor, and with the Paradigm Condominium development.“
Due to the magnitude of the renovation underway, Bachly Constructions’ team has run into a few problems. Ken Dale of Bachly Construction explains that because it is an older structure and has had previous renovations done, they have uncovered some unforeseen conditions within the existing building structure as well as underground.
Ken Dale continues onto say, “We are fortunate to be working alongside an experienced ownership group and design team, which are quick to address these conditions in a cost effective and efficient manner“.
RioCan and Bachly Construction have worked on many projects together in the past, however, this is the largest endeavor to date.
This project is extremely important to Bachly Construction and their Commercial Division. “The Burlington Mall is a pillar in the community and… this transformation will solidify that reputation for many years to come“– Ken Dale.
Heidi McGaw explains that for RioCan, “…there was an opportunity for Burlington Mall to be the place where Burlington effortlessly comes together. It will be warm and will provide Burlingtonian’s a place to thrive.“
