The Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) is holding its annual Housing Excellence awards and we are very excited for our submission. For the past seven consecutive years Bachly Construction has placed as a finalist in various categories. Winning CHBA National Custom Home of the Year in 2009. This year we have entered a submission in the Custom Homes category for detached builds 2,500 – 3,500 sqft. We are very proud of this contemporary high-end home. The design is simplistic in its overall style, but very detailed in its finishes.
The exterior uses staggered horizontal roof lines to create unique and varied sight-lines. Beautifully stacked picturesque windows soften the front and rear elevations. They also work to fuse the interior with the wooded backdrop of the property.
The interior colour scheme remains consistent throughout the home. Incorporating stark white finishes in contrast with rustic Oak hardwood. The use of contemporary light fixtures and nature inspired artwork accentuate the theme of modern/rustic. Throughout the entire homes interior you will notice there are touches of rustic wood artwork and paintings of natural settings. This perfectly offsets the simplistic contemporary design and creates a balance in the home.
The stand out feature of this home is the firepalce accent wall. It encapsulates the entire design theme into one eye-catching work of art. The two-sided gas fireplace is surrounded by Calacatta Nuvo Caesarstone. The mantel and rest of the wall are finished in a raw, re-used barn board. This adds a stark contrast to the almost pure white Quartz. In turn it warms the entire great room with its rich, rustic tones.
The winners are announced at the 2017 CHBA Gala on Saturday, March 18th. We are hoping to place as a finalists and eventually come out as the winner in our category.
